Alpine-themed eatery opens in Munich Airport

Passengers can enjoy a taste of the Alps before they even board a plane at the new Sportalm restaurant in Munich Airport’s Terminal 2.

The Alpine-themed offering is designed like a Bavarian barn in the mountains with the interiors including tree trunks, an old barn door and traditional Alpine paraphernalia.

Customers can also watch live events on big screens while they sit and eat in a converted gondola from a real ski lift.

The home comforts-style menu is filled with German cuisine like shredded pancake dish kaiserschmarrn, plus pasta dishes and salads.

Sportalm will become a two-level restaurant from April, when its sun terrace with love seats and lounge chairs is due to open.
