Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has won best in class for its International Terminal redevelopment in ‘The Great Transformation in Airport Food and Beverage Award’ category at the Airport Food and Beverage (FAB) Awards held in Geneva, Switzerland on June 29-July 1, 2016.

BAC’s International Terminal offering was also Highly Commended in the ‘Airport Food and Beverage Offer of the Year Award’, sharing the commendation with Heathrow Airport in the UK, while Copenhagen Airport in Denmark took home the win.

Andrew Brodie, general manager, Airline and Retail Management, said, “At BNE it’s not just about the quality, variety and choice of F&B on offer, it’s about being a destination in itself offering imaginatively prepared, locally sourced produce, and a memorable ‘taste’ of our remarkable location.

“The ambience of the terminal adds to the experience, capturing a sense of Brisbane’s personality and progressive thinking that drives BAC and the retailers to continually evolve,” Brodie added.

The awards come after the A$45m (US$33.5m) redevelopment of Brisbane’s International Terminal. Elements of the redevelopment included a new themed departures lounge, incorporating a sense of place that is uniquely Brisbane; new walk through duty-free stores for both departures and arrivals; new specialty retail and food and beverage outlets offering the best of local produce and products; improved wayfinding for passengers; and unrivalled views of aviation activity on the tarmac.
