Restaurateur HMSHost, a subsidiary of catering company Autogrill, has extended its contract with Norfolk International Airport in the state of Virginia by another five years in a deal worth approximately US$60m.

HMSHost’s current concession, awarded in 1999, runs until 2021 and includes the operation of three Starbucks points of sale, as well as Burger King, Back Bay Bistro, James River Grille and The Great American Bagel.

The new deal will see HMSHost open a new gastropub called The Local@ORF, a new market-style area with counters selling dishes made using locally-sourced organic ingredients, and a new restaurant called Here’s To Heroes, created in partnership with beverage producer AB InBev.
