Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority (RDAA), the operator of Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina, approved the construction of five new restaurants in Terminal 2 (T2) yesterday (August 18) as part of its regular monthly meeting.

The five restaurants include two short-term and three long-term concepts to serve an increasing number of passengers in the airport’s largest terminal. The two short-term locations include a new Starbucks café and Tap Room public house, with openings scheduled for autumn 2016.

The three long-term restaurants include Dale Jr.’s Whisky River full-service restaurant, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen fast-food concept, and a permanent Starbucks café to replace the short-term concept. The new additions are scheduled to open in autumn 2017.

Michael Landguth, CEO and president, RDAA, said, “We want to offer more of what our customer’s want – quality concepts and brands that they trust. The addition of these restaurants will enable us to provide the world-class level of service our customers deserve.”

HMS Host, which currently operates several restaurants in Terminal 1 and T2, will operate the new stores. The company will partner with JQ Enterprises, a local Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE), for the operation of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
