Restaurateur SSP has won an 11-year deal to operate 10 food and beverage (F&B) offerings at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport in France.

The €180m (US$205m) contract will see SSP open a number of outlets between now and 2017, starting with L’Estivale restaurant, created in partnership with two-Michelin starred chef Mauro Colagreco, and the first Jamie’s Italian in France. Passengers will also have access to two new Joe and the Juice bars, a Chez Pipo ‘socca’ restaurant adapted for travelers, a Tarte Tropézienne bakery, and a ‘pop up’ outlet called From Nice with Love. SSP will also operate a staff canteen in Terminal 1.

Gérard d’Onofrio, managing director for SSP France, Belgium and the Netherlands, said, “Nice Côte d’Azur has ambitions to become one of the major platforms in south Europe, with a genuine focus on the passenger experience. We are delighted to be partnering with the team here at Nice to create a food and beverage offer that will undoubtedly place the airport in the top echelons for dining. Following the successful development of our business at Nantes and Bordeaux airports, this new business represents another major step in the airport sector for SSP France, and secures our position as the leader in the French market.”

Filip Soete, director of the Commercial Business Unit for Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, the airport operator, said, “We have selected the bids most consistent with our vision. These are the most surprising and, while being entirely contemporary, most loyal to our locality, the French Riviera. This decision marks an initial stage in the ambitious future targeted by the Nice platform, our prime concern being to satisfy our customers while promoting and showcasing the image of our local territory.”
