Airport operator Manchester Airports Group (MAG) is set to invest £1.6m (US$2.3m) in renovating its luxury Escape Lounge in Terminal 2 (T2) at Manchester Airport in the northwest of England.

The project will increase the size of the Escape Lounge by more than a third, increasing its capacity to 212 passengers. It will also add a kitchen and bar to the main lounge, which is being created from knocking two smaller lounges into one.

The Escape Lounge, which is located above the T2 departures hall, will re-open to passengers at the end of April 2016. During this period, qualifying airline customers will be provided with a voucher to use at a selection of restaurants and bars in the terminal. The Escape Lounges located in Terminals 1 and 3 will both remain open.

Kevin Smith, head of retail – lounges, MAG, said, “The Escape Lounge brand continues to go from strength to strength and we are committed to offering our passengers the best possible facilities to make sure they get their trips off to a great start.

“The investment in our T2 Escape Lounge will provide our passengers with the latest facilities and I’m excited for the re-opening in April.”
