Travel retailer Dufry has signed a 10-year contract extension with Mexican airport operator Aeropuertos del Sureste (ASUR) to operate retail space totaling 65,000ft² at Cancun International Airport.

The contract includes the operation of duty-free and duty-paid stores in terminals 2 and 3, as well as 16,000ft² of retail space in the new Terminal 4 (T4) building, scheduled to open in 2017. Dufry will begin refurbishing stores in Terminal 3 (T3) with immediate effect and plans to upgrade stores in Terminal 2 (T2) between 2020 and 2023.

The contract with ASUR also includes the development of a new walk-trough concept at Cozumel International Airport scheduled for completion in 2017.

Julian Diaz, CEO of Dufry, said, “We are all very happy to have reached this agreement with ASUR to continue to operate at one of the fastest growing airports in Latin America and I would like to thank the management of ASUR for the longstanding relationship of mutual trust.

“It is our ambition to develop a state-of-the art commercial environment and a compelling offer, exceeding the expectations of the passengers and creating value for both ASUR and Dufry.”
