A new passenger-screening checkpoint has opened at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas as part of its Terminal East Infill Project. The project is intended to help the airport cope with the steady rise in passenger numbers from 8.6 million in 2010 to 10.7 million in 2014.

The new checkpoint contains six security lanes and creates a new terminal connection from the east ticket lobby to the concourse near Gate 5. The final phases of the Terminal East Infill Project will be completed over the summer including the addition of new administrative offices and two new bag carousels for domestic flights. When complete, the project will have added 56,700ft2 to the existing terminal and renovated a further 17,000ft2.
