The Ministry of Public Works, Kuwait, has hired Otis to provide people-moving products at the new Passenger Terminal 2 at Kuwait International Airport.

Otis will supply all 190 elevators required by the new terminal, which is scheduled to be operational in 2022. The new elevators include 171 Gen2 units with capacities up to 5 tons and 19 heavy-duty elevators with capacities up to 11 tons. The units feature the latest in Otis technologies, such the ReGen Drive, Gen2 flat-coated steel belts, and Pulse monitoring systems.

The new terminal building is part of Kuwait International Airport’s plans to significantly increase capacity and establish a new regional air hub in the region.

“We are honored that our equipment has been selected for this prestigious project,” said Cihan Ozkaraman, general manager, Otis Kuwait. “The Kuwait International Airport Passenger Terminal 2 is a significant project for Kuwait and its aviation sector, and we are proud to be part of it.”

Otis operates in Kuwait as Otis Elevator Company Kuwait, a joint-venture company.
