Rimowa and Materna to launch digital luggage solution at PTE 2017

Rimowa and Materna will reveal their fully integrated digital luggage solution, the Rimowa Electronic Tag, at Passenger Terminal Expo 2017 in Amsterdam, taking place on March 14-16.

The new technology enables travelers to use the Rimowa mobile app and respective airline app to send a digital bag tag to their suitcase while still at home.

The app identifies the baggage and transfers the required data to the electronic bag tag on the suitcase, meaning passengers can simply drop off their bags once at the airport.

Rimowa and Materna are working together to develop a new solution for an advanced bag-drop process called Premium Bag Drop. This will be optimized for Rimowa Electronic Tag suitcases, with all data regarding the destination, airline, and departure and routing information available by the time the bag is dropped off.

Rimowa Electronic Tag and Materna will showcase their new technology for the first time at PTE 2017 at Stand 5040. The expo is also the start of the Premium Bag Drop world tour, which will also visit Dublin, Las Vegas, Singapore and Cologne.
