Airports Authority of India (AAI) has pledged to invest Rs400 crores (US$60m) in expanding and modernizing Dabolim International Airport in Goa.

As well as expanding the main terminal, works include the introduction of a new in-line x-ray baggage system, several self-service check-in kiosks, common-use terminal equipment (CUTE) and the expansion of the car parking area.

Dabolim Airport handled more than 7.5 million passengers in 2017 and recently became the 12th airport under the control of AAI to install a centralized Airport Operations Control Center.

Alongside the improvements at Dabolim, visitors to Goa will soon benefit from the new greenfield Mopa Airport being built in the north of the state.
