According to a report by Travel and Tourism News Middle East, the multi-million dollar project will involve the construction of a new ATC Tower, parallel runway, eight connecting taxiways and the extension of the existing runway to accommodate A380 aircraft. Additional aircraft hangars will also be constructed to carry out aircraft repairs.

Fujairah Airport operates an Open Skies policy that allows airlines from any country to fly to and from the airport subject to UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) regulation.
