Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has launched the Personal Security Pass pilot project, which allows passengers to reserve a time slot online to go through security control.
The pilot will run from November 28 to December 11, and passengers traveling between 10am and 1.30pm can use the Pass to go through an entry gate designed specifically for these customers. The entry gate is open at security in Departure Hall 1, at check in desk 1A.
At security control, a Schiphol employee will scan the QR code in the email confirming the reservation. The passenger will then scan their own boarding pass at the self-service security gate and pass through security using the dedicated entry gate.
Flights applicable for the pass can be checked and time slots can be reserved from four days in advance up to one hour and 15 minutes before departure at schiphol.nl/securitypass and through the Schiphol app.
Schiphol hopes the pilot will show if travelers value the certainty of a fixed time to go through security, and how such a program would impact the influx of passengers at security control. If the pilot project proves successful, the Pass will be rolled out for general use.
