Cyprus’s Larnaka International Airport is further upgrading its services with the expansion of its auto-electronic gates system.
Seven electronic gates are now in operation in the departures area. They allow travelers carrying a printed boarding pass to proceed directly to security and then the retail area and departure gates beyond.
The gates can serve up to 1,800 passengers every hour, which is hoped to reduce queueing times at all stages of departures.
Hermes Airports, Larnaka’s operator, has also upgraded its ‘Express Lane’ facility, which allows airlines to offer the queue-dodging service directly to customers with an automated procedure integrated into boarding passes. Aegean is the first airline to introduce the offer to its passengers.
The auto-electronic gate system is also expected to expand to Pafos International Airport.
