The Munich Airport supervisory board has renewed its contract with Jost Lammers, the airport’s CEO, for another five years.
The original contract was set to expire at the end of 2024. Lammers has headed the airport company since January 2020 and is also its chief human relations officer. Since June 2022, he has also been the president of the German Aviation Association (BDL) and on June 26, 2023, he was appointed vice president of Airports Council International ACI World at the ACI World Annual General Assembly in Barcelona.
Lammers has held responsible positions at various European airports since the late 1990s. Before moving to Munich Airport, he was in charge of Liszt Ferenc Airport in Budapest and played a key role in the success of the Hungarian capital’s airport. His first few years at Munich Airport were dominated by the Covid-19 pandemic. The airport has since recovered and is now operating at around 80% of pre-pandemic levels.
Albert Füracker, Bavarian Finance Minister and supervisory board chairman of Munich Airport, said, “Jost Lammers took over responsibility for the airport three and a half years ago. Just a few weeks later, the airport found itself – through no fault of its own – at the center of the greatest crisis in aviation history. With great skill, experience, the instincts required and the support of the entire airport team, he overcame this enormous challenge with flying colors. The decision to renew his contract early is both a thank you and a vote of confidence. With Jost Lammers at the helm, the airport will remain one of the world’s best airports and Bavaria’s gateway to the world!”
