SSP extends F&B contracts at Sharm El Sheikh, Aswan and Abu Simbel airports

SSP has secured a contract extension to continue operating food and beverage outlets at Sharm El Sheikh International Airport, Aswan International Airport and Abu Simbel Airport, reinforcing its presence in Egypt’s airport sector.

Under the renewed agreement, SSP will operate 15 outlets across Terminals 1 and 2 at Sharm El Sheikh, along with two units at Aswan and one at Abu Simbel. The three airports handle more than 10 million passengers annually – around nine million of them at Sharm El Sheikh.

The operator’s portfolio across the sites includes international brands such as KFC, Burger King and Costa, as well as SSP’s own brands Ritazza and Panopolis and a range of local concepts. SSP said the mix is intended to meet demand from leisure and business travelers for higher-quality food and beverage options.

The contract extension builds on recent developments for SSP in Egypt. In 2025, the company opened a KFC outlet at Cairo International Airport Terminal 2 following an earlier launch in Hurghada, with a third location planned for Sharm El Sheikh. SSP also operates seven Burger King units and five Costa locations across Egyptian airports.

According to Egypt’s State Information Service, passenger traffic at Cairo International Airport rose 6.8% in 2025 to 30.94 million, while other airports across the country recorded a 22.3% increase, reaching about 28 million passengers.

SSP said the agreement supports its growth strategy in higher-growth markets within its Eastern Europe and Middle East division. George Antoniou, CEO of SSP EEME, said the extension reflects a long-standing partnership. “This new deal is closely aligned with SSP’s global strategy to develop our business in higher growth markets,” he stated. “It marks the continuation of a strategic relationship that began in 2000 and is testament to the enduring trust, operational excellence and wide brand portfolio that SSP brings to airport environments across the region and around the world.”

He added that Egypt remains a key market for the company, and that SSP expects to continue serving passengers across the country’s airport network under the renewed agreements.
