iGA Istanbul Airport has received the Airport Platinum Award from Cirium, recognizing operational performance based on the organization’s 2025 On-Time Performance Review.
Cirium said the award reflects improvements in the airport’s on-time departure performance and operational management, and its ability to manage high traffic volumes and complex transit operations. According to the company, the airport increased its on-time departure rate from 68.62% in 2023 to 76.28% in 2024 and to 80.72% in 2025. Over the same period, the airport rose from 51st to 19th place in Cirium’s global ranking for large airports.
Selahattin Bilgen, CEO of iGA Istanbul Airport, said, “This award is a testament to our ability to manage complex operations and provide an excellent experience for passengers at all times, even during busier and more demanding periods. In 2025, we hosted 84.3 million passengers and successfully managed 547,000 flights, breaking records with an average of 1,707 daily flights.”
Cirium CEO Jeremy Bowen said the improvement in on-time departure performance demonstrated “consistent and measurable development” and required coordination between airlines, ground handling teams and air traffic control.
“It’s particularly meaningful for a hub that connects Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East,” Bowen said. “Improving performance in such an environment requires immense operational discipline and coordination.”
The airport also reported that it met all of its electricity consumption from solar energy in 2025 following investment in a solar power plant producing 340,000,000kWh of electricity annually.
iGA Istanbul Airport said it aims to handle more than 90 million passengers in 2026. It currently serves more than 330 destinations through 116 scheduled passenger airlines.
