Gatwick Airport has been presented with the airport of the year accolade at the London Transport Awards.
Organizers who decided the winner noted Gatwick’s £2.7bn (US3.7bn) investment program and transformation of the North Terminal. The airport’s Airline Moves project – when Gatwick’s three biggest airlines switched terminals over a 72-hour period – was also cited by judges.
Chris Woodroofe, chief operating officer at London Gatwick Airport, commented, “Achievements like this only happen because of the collective efforts and dedication that people working at the airport – not just Gatwick staff – put in 24 hours a day, every day.
