London City and Mitie renew security deal

London City Airport has awarded a two-year contract extension to security services provider Mitie.

Three years after signing the initial contract, Mitie has committed to continuing to provide behind-the-scenes security, screening baggage items, and guarding and controlling access to the 120-acre site when the airport is closed at night.

The contract renewal also involved increasing the salaries of the 64 Mitie staff contracted directly to the airport, bringing them in line with the London Living Wage of £10.75 (US$14) an hour, a reference to the airport’s living wage accreditation in March 2019.
