Airport retailer Paradies Lagardère and Saskatoon International in Canada have announced a new initiative designed to help fight hunger in the city.

The program allows travellers and airline and airport employees the opportunity to purchase and donate convenience foods, healthy snacks, beverages and other items, which will then be distributed to the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre.

Gregg Paradies, president and CEO, Paradies Lagardère, said, “We’ve received positive feedback regarding our initiatives to fight hunger at Edmonton and Calgary airports from both our partners and travelers. We’re always looking for new opportunities to make a positive and impactful difference in the lives of our employees, business partners and customers.”

Laurie O’Connor, executive director, Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre, added, “This new initiative with Paradies Lagardère will bring much needed personal care items to the community. We hope this gift inspires those who are traveling to think about donating before they head off on their trip.”

Paradies Lagardère has initiated a similar program at Edmonton International Airport, which partners with the Leduc & District Food Bank, and Calgary International Airport, which partners with the Airdrie Food Bank. To date, more than 4,000 items have been donated by travelers to those in need.
