NR Investments, a Guernsey, Channel Islands, property investment firm, has agreed to acquire 95% of the concession company of Chisinau International Airport in Moldova.

An agreement was ratified on August 19 between representatives of Avia Invest and NR Investments’ sole beneficiary, Nat Rothschild.

The operations and management of Chisinau International Airport transferred to a concessionaire – Avia Invest – in November 2013, under a private-public partnership model, leading to a three-stage investment program over six years. During that time, Avia Invest oversaw a full modernization of the airport, including a new passenger terminal, runway and apron modernization, a new multi-level car lot and other enhancements to the airport’s infrastructure.

Avia Invest has also attracted new full-service and low-cost carriers to Chisinau, which is the largest airport, and only international airport, in Moldova. Sixteen airlines currently include the airport in their networks, serving 38 destinations, including London, Dublin, Paris, Istanbul and Moscow.
