Siemens installs baggage handling systems at Abu Dhabi International

Siemens Logistics and Airport Solutions has installed a new state-of-the-art baggage handling system in the US pre-clearance facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The facility is located next to Terminal 3 (T3).

The baggage handling system will further help to expedite the departures process for passengers registered to use the pre-clearance service.

Travelers on US bound flights can use the service to clear immigration and customs in Abu Dhabi, and are then treated like domestic travelers when they land in the US. It is the first pre-clearance terminal installed in the Middle East.

In addition to the pre-clearance terminal, Siemens Logistics and Airport Solutions has successfully completed two more baggage handling projects for Abu Dhabi Airports. In the course of the T3 expansion, Siemens delivered and installed baggage handling equipment for the new transfer baggage facility. In the arrival area of Terminal 1 (T1), Siemens also modernized the baggage reclaim with five new incline carousels, new conveyor connections and the respective control system adaptations.

Siemens has also been contracted to continue its operation and maintenance services for the baggage handling systems in T1 and T3, and the airport’s cargo hub.
