Vanderlande to install baggage-handling system at Boston Logan International

Vanderlande is set to install the new baggage handling system at Boston Logan International Airport after being awarded a US$71.5M contract by Turner Construction and airport operator MassPort. The decision was made due to Vanderlande’s past experience on two enabling projects at Boston Logan coupled with a recent project at San Francisco International Airport.

The project includes approximately 7,500 linear feet of conveyors, 20 vertical sorters and 26 high capacity diverters. These will be fitted in the baggage screening areas in Terminal E – East and West, Terminal C and Terminal B2, as well as the modified central baggage re-inspection areas.

Vanderlande’s main challenge will be keeping the systems live during the project while adhering to industry regulations and standards. The project is scheduled for completion in mid 2016.
