TSA eases hand sanitizer rules

The USA’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has temporarily changed its rules on quantities of hand sanitizer allowed in air travelers’ hand luggage.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, until further notice, the TSA is allowing passengers to bring liquid hand sanitizer containers up to 12oz (350ml) in carry-on bags. The agency stressed, however, that passengers can expect containers larger than the standard allowance of 3.4oz (100ml) to be screened separately, which means that checkpoint screening will take longer.

The TSA also stressed that all other liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on luggage must remain under 3.4oz, as usual.
