Aberdeen International Airport has detailed the next phase of its £2.5mn (US$3.35m) ABZ Reimagined program, which will expand retail and food and beverage facilities ahead of summer 2027.
The airport will combine its post-security WHSmith and InMotion stores into a single, extended unit, creating additional retail space. Restaurant facilities will also be expanded to offer more seating, and the airport plans to enhance its coffee offering.
Work will progress over the coming months, with improvements delivered in phases.
The announcement follows the appointment of design consultancy Portland Design earlier this year to help shape the airport’s retail proposition. Portland developed a set of retail design guidelines, which are now informing the transformation of commercial spaces across the terminal.
The airport’s competitive tender process remains ongoing for several retail and food and beverage opportunities within the program. Further announcements on future operators and brands will be made in due course.
Craig Norton, head of retail and development at AGS Airports, said, “ABZ Reimagined is all about creating a modern airport experience that reflects the ambitions of the northeast of Scotland and meets the expectations of today’s travelers.
“From enhanced retail facilities and expanded dining space to an improved coffee offering, we’re investing in the areas that matter most to our passengers. As work continues, customers will begin to see the transformation taking shape throughout the terminal.”
