According to a report by the Sacramento Business Journal, a new Hyatt Place hotel could be in place by 2017 at Sacramento International Airport following a proposal by real estate firm Sonnenblick Development.

The US$23m hotel will be situated between the airport’s main commercial terminals and will feature 135 rooms as well as a dining area, fitness center, pool, spa and 3,500ft2 of meeting space.

Sacramento County Airport System (SCAS), the operator for the airport, has been looking to develop an on-site hotel for more than a decade. The previous hotel had been demolished to make way for the expansion of the airport’s new terminal and parking garage.

John Wheat, director for SCAS, said, “Our customers have requested the convenience of an onsite hotel for many years and we are now at a point where we are ready to move forward.”
