Dubai Duty Free achieves record-breaking sales for 2014

Dubai Duty Free announced record sales figures of nearly AED7bn (US$1.9bn) for 2014, representing a 7.36% increase over the previous year. This included a record month in December 2014 with sales figures reaching AED749m (US$205m), a 7% increase when compared to December 2013.

Colm McLoughlin, executive vice chairman for Dubai Duty Free, said, “We are thrilled to announce such a positive year during which the operation went from strength to strength. I thank H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman of Dubai Duty Free for his ongoing support and I join His Highness in thanking our great team of staff, our suppliers and of course our customers, who are fundamental to our continued growth.”

The group recorded 26,995,367 sales transactions in 2014, equating to an average of 73,960 sales transactions per day across both Dubai International and at Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International airports. Perfume achieved the highest sales figures bringing in AED1.15bn (US$314m) and representing 17% of the group’s sales. Liquor and gold followed with sales of AED1bn (US$286m) and AED597m (US$163.6m) respectively.
