Menzies Aviation has reopened its Pearl Lounge at Copenhagen Airport following a three-month refurbishment, part of a wider global lounge upgrade program.

The refurbishment is part of Menzies’ multi-year Pearl Lounge transformation initiative, aimed at standardizing and improving its premium lounge offering worldwide while incorporating local design elements. The company said the program is intended to enhance passenger experience and support growth in the premium hospitality segment.

At Copenhagen Airport, Menzies invested €2.7m (US$3.2m) to upgrade the facility, which reopened to passengers on May 1, 2026.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, American Airlines, Asur Airports and Phoenix Infrastructure Group have completed the commercial redevelopment of Terminal 8 at John F. Kennedy International Airport, unveiling a US$125m program featuring more than 60 dining, retail and duty-free concepts.

The project marks the first completed terminal redevelopment within the Port Authority’s broader US$19bn transformation of JFK. It follows a US$400m expansion of Terminal 8 completed in 2022, which added new widebody gates, parking positions and upgraded baggage systems.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) has begun redevelopment of the former Commercially Important Persons (CIP) terminal at Singapore Changi Airport, with plans to introduce a new private terminal and expand its Hub & Spoke lifestyle cluster.

The project, located at the southern end of Terminal 2, is scheduled to open in mid-2027.

The new private terminal will replace the existing CIP facility and be jointly operated by CAG and Plaza Premium Group (PPG).

Kansai Airports has opened a renovated domestic area in Terminal 2 at Kansai International Airport (KIX), as part of an ongoing terminal upgrade program.

The new area was unveiled on April 1, 2026, with a ceremony attended by company executives and airport stakeholders, including CEO Yoshiyuki Yamaya and co-CEO Benoit Rulleau.

The redevelopment is being delivered in phases to support growing passenger traffic at the airport. The new domestic section introduces a range of upgrades aimed at improving passenger flow and reducing congestion.

A new Aspire Executive Lounge designed by Zebra has opened at Copenhagen Airport. The redesigned passenger lounge is intended to reflect Copenhagen’s architectural identity and support different passenger needs. The design draws on the Danish capital’s historic nickname, The City of Spires, incorporating references to the city’s skyline and Scandinavian design traditions.

The lounge has two access tiers. The main Aspire Executive Lounge offers food and drink, workspaces and seating areas for relaxation, while Suite by Aspire provides a higher level of service for passengers seeking a more premium experience.

Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has officially opened the first Plaza Premium First lounge in Europe at Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport, expanding its premium airport hospitality offering in the region.

The new lounge is located in Terminal 1 and spans 700m2 , with capacity for up to 115 guests. Plaza Premium First is the group’s top-tier lounge concept, positioned above its standard Plaza Premium Lounges and focused on higher levels of service, privacy and dining.

Alaska Air Group subsidiary Hawaiian Airlines has unveiled a five-year investment program totalling more than US$600m focused on modernizing airport infrastructure across Hawai‘i alongside upgrades to aircraft interiors, digital systems and sustainability initiatives. The Kahu‘ewai Hawai‘i Investment Plan will fund renovations at key airports including Honolulu, Līhu‘e, Kahului, Kona and Hilo, with work beginning this year and continuing through 2029.

At Honolulu’s Daniel K Inouye International Airport, Hawaiian Airlines will build a new 985m2 premium lounge at the entrance to Terminal 1’s Mauka Concourse.

Turkish Airlines has opened its first CIP lounge in the UK with the launch of a new premium facility at Edinburgh Airport, developed in partnership with Plaza Premium Group (PPG).

The new Turkish Airlines Lounge marks a milestone for the carrier’s ground product expansion in Europe and is the first Turkish Airlines–branded lounge in the UK. It will serve Turkish Airlines Business Class passengers, Miles&Smiles members, eligible Star Alliance travelers and Plaza Premium Group partners.

JetBlue has announced that it will open its first-ever airport lounge, BlueHouse, at New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) Terminal 5 (T5) on December 18, 2025.

Spanning 840m2 over two floors, the lounge has been designed to reflect New York’s art deco architecture with the warmth of a classic city apartment. Union Square Events will bring food inspired by local flavors, and NYC partners Joe Coffee, The Greats of Craft and Please Don’t Tell will offer beverages.
