Edinburgh Airport is preparing to welcome more than 90,000 passengers this weekend as the school summer holidays begin.

An estimated 92,348 passengers will depart from the airport between today (June 26) and Monday June 29, with the most popular destinations being Malaga, Alicante, Palma and Amsterdam.

David Wilson, chief operating officer at Edinburgh Airport, said, “Last month saw over one million passengers travel through the terminal – our busiest May on record and almost 10% up on last year. Summer is always our busiest time of the year and we anticipate our numbers will only continue to grow.

“Between today and Monday we’ll see over 160,000 passengers arrive and depart the terminal. The annual trade fortnight is also just around the corner and I want our passengers to know we’ll be pulling out all the stops to ensure the airport operates as well as possible.

“The terminal will be very busy so we’ll have dedicated family lanes in security and will be fully staffed to assist passengers and make their journey as relaxed and stress-free as possible.”
