Phase 2A of the terminal expansion project at Mariscal Sucre Airport in Quito, Ecuador, has begun operations, offering more comfort, greater services and increased efficiency for the thousands of domestic passengers that pass through the terminal daily.
The US$22m terminal has been expanded by 85,000ft² and includes 870 additional seats, two new passenger boarding bridges and 10 gates. Passenger capacity in the waiting lounges has increased by 30%.

The new waiting lounges have large windows and high ceilings to increase the feeling of space, while indoor and outdoor gardens and hanging plants allow passengers to feel in touch with nature. There are three new food and beverage establishments, new retail stores selling local products, a domestic VIP lounge, a children’s play area, power outlets for charging phones and laptops, and free wi-fi.
