Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) handled more than 30.1 million passengers in 2025, in what was the second consecutive year the airport has exceeded the 30 million mark.
According to the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation, total passenger traffic reached 30,136,790 in 2025, a 2.5% decrease compared with 2024. The airport last recorded consecutive 30 million-plus years in 2018 and 2019.
International traffic in 2025 grew year-on-year by 7.5% to 4,144,909 passengers and domestic traffic totalled 25,991,881 passengers, down 3.9% year-on-year.
“The arrival of Aeroméxico, flying to Mexico City, and the launch of new seasonal flights from American Airlines to Edinburgh and Milan, and Frontier Airlines to Santiago, Dominican Republic, gave our passengers even more exciting international options last year,” said Kate Sullivan, chief commercial officer for the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation.
“With nonstop service to Prague and Budapest this spring, along with the FIFA World Cup, America’s 250th birthday and other showcase events and activities, we anticipate our international volume to grow even more this year,” she added.
Aircraft movements at PHL totaled 323,122 in 2025, a 1% increase over the previous year. The airport also reported growth in cargo activity for the first time since 2021. More than 482,000 tons of airmail and freight were handled in 2025, representing a 7.4% increase compared with 2024.
Northeast Philadelphia Airport (PNE), also owned and operated by the Department of Aviation, recorded 123,380 aircraft movements in 2025, up 1% year-on-year. For the third consecutive year, PNE was the busiest general aviation airport and the third busiest overall airport in Pennsylvania.
