<p>The initiative supports Qatar National Vision 2030, which targets a 25% reduction in national carbon emissions. The first EV charging stations have been installed on the ground level of the airport’s east parking lot.</p>
<p>According to the airport, the fast-charging unit can serve two vehicles at the same time and delivers up to 50kW of power.</p>

<p>Located at Callerton Parkway, adjacent to Callerton Parkway Metro station, the facility provides a designated and safe area for vehicles to wait before picking up passengers. Taxis, minibuses and private vehicles can use the zone for up to 90 minutes free of charge.</p>
<p>From January 6, the airport will further enhance the site with the introduction of a complimentary electric shuttle bus service, initially operating every 30 minutes.</p>

<p>The opening announcement comes after the new terminal systems went through rigorous testing over the past several months, with two large public trials featuring more than 2,000 participants providing input and feedback on their experience.</p>
<p>Pittsburgh says the upgrades were needed to transform the outdated airport designed as a US Airways hub into a modern ‘origin-and-destination’ airport that can accommodate a range of airlines and their business needs.</p>

<p>Vehicles can access the Terminal 1 Parking Plaza, located directly across from Terminal 1 at 3501 North Harbor Drive, by following directional signs along westbound and eastbound North Harbor Drive.</p>

<p>The airport’s parking rates for Parking 4 are: €10.50 (US$11.90) per day for up to seven days; €9.50 (US$10.78) per day (for stays longer than seven days); and a maximum €150 (US$170) per month.</p>

If all were used, they could generate 188.4GWh of energy – enough to power 52,340 homes annually.</p>
<p>The ongoing research is a result of academics manually identifying parking spaces at airports in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland by using existing satellite imagery.</p>
<p><strong>Decarbonizing the UK’s airports</strong></p>
<p>With 11 car parks and 51,500 spaces alone, London’s Heathrow Airport has been highlighted as the UK’s prime site for this technology.</p>

Kennedy International (JFK) Airport. It more than doubles the number of EV chargers available at the airport.</p>
<p>The new charging station is within the airport’s for-hire vehicle (FHV) hold lot and accessible via the Van Wyck Expressway or Belt Parkway. With the new Revel charging station’s 24 additional chargers at the FHV lot adjacent to JFK Building 141, JFK now hosts 46 EV fast-charging ports that are operational at all times, helping to reduce charging wait times and improving traffic flow to the benefit of customers and FHV drivers.</p>

<p><strong>Automatic number plate recognition system</strong></p>
<p>The new technology will be managed through an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system like that already in use at some other UK airports and familiar settings like bridges and tunnels. It will come into operation in late March 2025.</p>
<p>Cameras will identify cars by their registration number (license plate) and automatically record who has used the pickup or drop-off area.</p>
