Online furniture designer Made.com has transformed Piers H and M at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands into showrooms featuring a wide range of original designer furniture including lamps, bookcases, sofas and armchairs.

The innovative retail approach provides passengers with stylish areas where they can rest ahead of their flight, and can even order items online for delivery when they return.

Gideon Ruig, commercial development manager, Schiphol Airport, said, “Schiphol aims to create the optimal passenger experience. As an airport, this means we must always remain innovative and adopt a pioneering role. This also applies to retail. The Made.com living rooms give passengers a contemporary waiting area, with the opportunity to immediately order online all the products, which they see and use.

“Made.com demonstrates in an original way how an online and physical store can be combined to form a single showroom. By means of this collaboration, we are hoping to enhance the waiting time experience for passengers at Schiphol and to be a showroom for innovative products in the future as well.”

Damien Poelhekke from Made.com, said, “Schiphol is the perfect partner for an innovative and unconventional retail concept. Both Schiphol and Made.com will be pushing boundaries in a new learning environment. We are going on a journey together to discover the customers of the future.”
