US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has introduced its Enhanced Passenger Processing (EPP) program at Bermuda’s L F Wade International Airport. The process is designed to improve security and streamline the preclearance experience for US citizens departing for the USA.
EPP uses facial comparison technology to deliver a touchless inspection process for US citizens. CBP officers use auto-capture cameras and biometric facial comparison technology to verify identity and US citizenship, conduct law enforcement vetting and create a crossing record.
No prior application is required, making the service automatically available to US citizens departing Bermuda. Any US citizen who prefers not to participate in the EPP process may notify an officer and will then be directed to the standard entry process.
EPP is also available at other CBP Preclearance airports, including Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Halifax, Dublin and Aruba.
