Dubai International Airport in the UAE has been named Airport of the Year at the 2015 Aviation Business Awards (ABA), which took place in the Park Hyatt hotel in Dubai on October 25.

Anita Mehra, vice president of communications and business development at Dubai Airports, the airport operator, said, “We are honored to have been chosen as the Airport of the Year by prominent members of the aviation and aerospace community. The win is the outcome of all the creativity and hard work the teams at Dubai Airports have put into enhancing service quality at the airport over the past twelve months. It is also a testament to their collaboration with our strategic partners, including more than 100 airlines that connect us to some 260 destinations around the world.”

Over the past 12 months, Dubai Airports has invested approximately US$1.2bn in new and upgraded facilities for passengers and airlines. The airport operator also launched a new improved website and smartphone app.

Organized by magazine publishers ITP Business, the ABAs included 14 categories covering airline, airport and cargo sectors across the Middle East, along with supporting niches. The Aviation Business Awards recognize and reward individuals and companies that have made a significant contribution to the development of the region’s aviation industry.
