K2 Security Screening Group, which provides planning, management, installation and integration services at the majority of Transportation Security Administration-regulated airports, has appointed Mara Winn as vice president for aviation. She will lead the company’s design, planning, management and installation of critical security infrastructure for airports.
Winn brings more than 25 years of experience, spanning program management, strategic roadmap development and full product development life cycles, from threat and needs analysis through implementation and closeout. At TSA, she led the Innovation Task Force, where she modernized acquisition systems, oversaw technology deployments at airports nationwide and managed large operational teams.
Most recently, Winn served as a senior executive with the US Department of Energy in the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response and the Energy Information Administration. She also supported the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office in technology insertion and radiation and nuclear detection acquisition projects.
Winn holds a bachelor of arts in physics from Smith College and a bachelor of engineering from Dartmouth College, along with additional certificates from Boston University and American University. She is a Project Management Institute project management professional and holds multiple technical certifications.
