Cognex has unveiled its latest automated tag reading (ATR) system at PTE World 2026 in London.
The system is designed to improve baggage tracking accuracy and reduce the need for manual encoding, with read accuracy of up to 99% for baggage tags.
According to Cognex, the AI-powered ATR system has been developed to improve code reading performance and throughput in baggage handling operations. The company said the technology can also integrate with RFID, dimensioning and OCR systems, while remaining compliant with IATA requirements.
Cognex added that the system offers up to 360° scanning coverage, supports different conveyance types and can be integrated with most existing frames, to reduce installation costs and limit downtime.
The company said the solution is intended to help airports and baggage handling operators reduce mishandled baggage, improve operational reliability and identify non-readable bag tag issues more quickly.
