Brisbane Airport records 25.2 million passengers in FY26, its highest ever

Brisbane Airport records 25.2 million passengers in FY26, its highest ever.

Brisbane Airport welcomed a record 25.2 million passengers in FY26, with more than one million additional travelers passing through its terminals compared with the previous financial year.

A total of 25,246,950 passengers traveled through the airport during FY26, an increase of 1,017,009 passengers, or 4.0%, year-on-year. The International Terminal handled 7,080,057 passengers, up 7.9%, while the Domestic Terminal handled 18,166,893 passengers, up 2.5%.

Mainland China was Brisbane Airport’s fastest-growing international market in FY26, with more than 137,710 additional travelers, equating to a 51.1% increase. More than one million passengers traveled to Brisbane via Singapore Changi Airport over the year, and the airport says it is the first international gateway to reach that milestone.

Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff said, “The result underscores the momentum we’re seeing at Brisbane Airport while also demonstrating the resilience of our aviation network. What makes this result particularly pleasing is that international passenger numbers grew despite global uncertainty and disruption in the Middle East during the second half of the financial year. While some traditional routes to Europe were impacted during that period, travelers continued to fly, with many choosing alternative connections through Asia.”

De Graaff noted that the return of Malaysia Airlines to Kuala Lumpur added Brisbane’s 35th direct international destination, and that Jetstar carried more than one million international passengers through the airport for the first time, after adding services to Cebu, Queenstown and Rarotonga.

Other highlights from the year included Virgin Australia recording the largest passenger increase of any international airline serving Brisbane, up more than 150,000 year-on-year, and Brisbane becoming the launch city for Qantas’s first international Airbus A220 services, debuting on routes to New Zealand. Qantas and Jetstar also announced upcoming services between Brisbane and Western Sydney International Airport.

The airport’s busiest day of FY26 was October 6, 2025, with 84,265 passengers, following the National Rugby League Grand Final and Queensland school holidays.

“These results highlight the confidence airlines have in Queensland, the growing appeal of Brisbane as a destination, and the important role aviation plays in connecting people, supporting tourism and enabling economic growth across the state,” De Graaff said.

Brisbane Airport is investing A$5bn (US$3.5bn) over five years through its Future BNE program to expand aviation, terminal and commercial infrastructure.
