Alicante-Elche Airport in Spain has installed a children’s playground in the boarding area to entertain young travelers between one and six years of age while they await departure.
The 700ft² playground features a slide, swing set, table and chairs, climbing area and rubber safety flooring. The playground also has two thematic panels either side of the slide depicting the Hans Christian Andersen stories The Little Mermaid and The Ugly Duckling.
A QR code is also available for parents to download educational applications that guide young travelers through the stories and provide different gameplay possibilities.
Other facilities at the airport catering for young families have also been improved, such as renovated baby changing areas and furniture. The VIP Lounge also now includes a playground and children’s television programming.
