Vanderlande has been awarded an operations and maintenance (O&M) contract for the existing baggage-handling system (BHS) at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai. The contract will run for 33 months and will be deployed on-site by an experienced team of 11 Vanderlande employees. The team will carry out operations and maintenance works 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

State-of-the-art tools, such as mobile supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), hosted business process improvement (BPI) and EYE4U (real-time video-based helpdesk support) will be installed and used by the team, ensuring the highest rate of system availability. The airport’s Maximo (enterprise asset management system) will be used for BHS asset maintenance. A 24/7 Vanderlande hotline will also provide additional support.

Roland van den Bergh, general manager of Vanderlande’s international customer center, said, “We are very proud to supply round-the-clock services for Dubai’s Al Maktoum International. Our overall aim is to ensure that this baggage handling system is running reliably to meet the stringent performance requirements.”
