EE has the best web connection at London Gatwick, Heathrow and City airports, according to a new report.

RootMetrics, an independent smartphone analytics company, has published a report revealing the internet performance of the top four network providers in the UK at London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London City airports.

At all three airports, EE came out on top with superior download and upload speeds as well as excellent reliability. Vodafone came second at London Gatwick and London Heathrow, and O2 came second at London City.

RootMetrics provides an overall RootScore based on multiple tests around reliability and speed. For example, at London City Airport, EE recorded a median download speed of 16.1 Mbps and a median upload speed of 26.2 Mbps. The company’s closest competitors at the airport were O2, with a median download speed of 7.2 Mbps, and Three, with the second fastest median upload speed of 10.2 Mbps.

Bill Moore, CEO, RootMetrics, said, “Travelers in the UK can now get a better idea of mobile internet performance while traveling and during delays at the UK’s busiest airports. Our testing at London City showed impressive performances from multiple operators, especially EE, which recorded the fastest median download and upload speeds, while winning its third consecutive mobile internet RootScore award to date at a UK airport.”
