The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority has appointed Brendan Reed vice president and chief operations officer, effective March 25.
In the role, Reed will oversee terminal and airside operations, aviation and public safety, operational planning and readiness, and facilities management at San Diego International Airport (SAN).
Atif Saeed, president and CEO of San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, said Reed’s experience within the organization supported the appointment: “During the last four years, he led the planning and activation of the US$3.8bn Terminal 1 program, which is the most complex project in the history of the airport. His promotion is well deserved.”
“I am honored and look forward to taking on this role at SAN,” said Reed. “Every day I am truly inspired by the knowledgeable and talented colleagues I work alongside in the Operations Division who tirelessly contribute to delivering a best-in-class airport for San Diego and the traveling public. We have accomplished a tremendous amount with the opening of the new Terminal 1, and there is much more to come with enhancing our operational efficiency and passenger experience.”
Reed has worked at the Airport Authority for 10 years and most recently served as senior director of operational planning and readiness. In that role, he coordinated stakeholders across the airport to support the opening of the new Terminal 1, including associated parking, roadway and airfield infrastructure.
Previously, he was director of airport planning and environmental affairs, where he was responsible for policies related to airport masterplanning, land use compatibility, environmental management and sustainability initiatives. His work included integrating sustainability into capital projects and supporting accreditation under the Airport Carbon Accreditation program.
Reed has also represented the authority on a number of regional and industry committees, including the San Diego Association of Governments and Airports Council International. He holds accreditation as an Airport Executive (AAE) and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
