Security specialist Morpho Detection, a subsidiary of Safran, has been contracted to install 14 hold baggage explosives detection systems (EDS) at multiple airports across Mexico.
The contract was awarded by Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) and involves the implementation of eight high-speed CTX 9800 DSi and six compact CTX 5800 systems at Cancun, Cozumel, Veracruz, Villahermosa, Manuel Crescencio Rejón and Xoxocotlán international airports. Morpho’s local partner, Segtec, will supply maintenance and rapid-response services to ensure peak performance and maximum system uptime.

Morpho’s CTX 9800 is capable of scanning more than 1,000 bags per hour to meet the requirements of large modern-day terminals, whereas the CTX 5800 is a lighter version that caters for small and medium-sized airports. Both systems present the user with high-resolution 3D (HD3D) images of each bag.
