Baggage conveyor belt specialist Transnorm has been contracted to supply 264 curved conveyor belt systems and full belt merges for the new Terminal 3 (T3) at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in China.

The T3 expansion project is scheduled for completion in 2015 and will boost the airport’s capacity to approximately 60 million passengers annually, making it one of the largest airports in the world.

Last year Transnorm established a new base of operations in Shanghai which has helped to further business in the Chinese market. The company has now installed its belt conveyer systems in over 300 airports worldwide.

Peter van der Klooster, sales director, Transnorm – Asia-Pacific, said, “Following this project, the number of Transnorm conveyors installed in China has increased to more than 1,700 modules. This means we now have presence at a total of 25 Chinese airports.

“Apart from direct sales support, we can now also offer customers improved service response times and shorter delivery lead times for spare parts.”
