An insight into Hong Kong International Airport’s redeveloped and expanded Terminal 1

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has currently a number of major construction projects underway to turn the hub into an airport city. New operational and passenger facing facilities are being developed, including a third runway, a passenger building and extended APM, and baggage handling systems.

Meanwhile, the airport is also upgrading its existing Terminal 1 and expanding the facility to improve passenger experience. Among other things, the new facility will include an open air garden and children’s play area, an enhanced F&B offering and more check-in, baggage and security services. Work is due to finish on T1 in 2020.
