Air transport technology specialist SITA has completed the installation of its automated border control gates at Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic. The automated gates use the latest biometric technologies to capture a live facial scan of the traveler which is then verified against the image stored on the passport’s electronic chip.
The new gates will be primarily used to automate the clearance process for US and Canadian passengers, as well as those departing for the UK, Spain and France.
