Icebox Café has become the first restaurant at Miami International Airport to receive the Fresh from Florida certification from the State of Florida.
The award certifies that the ingredients used have been grown or sourced within a 100-mile vicinity of the restaurant’s location. Due to the percentage of purchases by the café from the southern Miami-Dade farm area, the restaurant also qualifies for the county’s Redland Raised program.
Emilio T González, aviation director, Miami Airport, said, “Now more than ever, travelers are expecting world-class airports to provide the freshest, healthiest food options possible, so to that end, we congratulate Icebox Café on becoming certified as Florida Fresh and Redland Raised.
“We look forward to more restaurants at Miami Airport increasing their use of locally grown food, which obviously benefits our local economy as well.”
