Ostend-Bruges Airport and catering partner Erasmus Catering have opened the renovated food and beverage area and expanded VIP lounge ahead of the summer holiday season, following renovation work carried out this spring.

The F&B area has received a complete makeover, with a redesigned layout and fully updated interior, building on an initial renovation of the departure zone in 2017 that included an expanded shop and F&B establishment.

Belfast International Airport, part of the Vinci Airports network, has opened a new WHSmith store in the airside departures concourse, expanding the retail offering available to passengers.

The store stocks a range of products, including food and drink, health and beauty items, books, magazines, travel essentials and a selection of local and international brands, catering to leisure and business travelers. It features a modern design, including a mural reflecting Belfast, along with clear navigation, efficient checkout areas and a layout suited to high passenger flow.

Munich Airport has revealed the retail line-up for the new T1 Pier for non-Schengen traffic, which has been operational since April 21, 2026. The 95,000m2 terminal area has been designed for international long-haul travelers and has capacity for up to six million passengers per year.

Central to the pier’s commercial offer is Munich Airport’s first walk-through duty-free store, positioned directly after security. The store brings together beauty, spirits and accessories in a single curated retail space, designed to generate commercial activity at the start of passengers’ dwell time.

Vinci Airports and its joint subsidiary with ORIX, Kansai Airports, have inaugurated the expanded and fully renovated international retail area of Terminal 1 at Kansai International Airport (KIX), marking the completion of a renovation project launched in 2021.

The event coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Kansai Airports concession, which began in 2016.

The new retail area forms part of an extension of the international departures zone that first opened in December 2023.

Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has expanded its food and beverage offering at Helsinki Airport with the launch of a new dining concept, Bites & Plates, located on the ground floor of a new two-story complex.

The concept is designed to cater to passengers with varying dwell times, offering a mix of global dishes and quick service. According to PPG, the restaurant combines international flavors with a streamlined service model aimed at travelers with limited time before departure.

Lagardère Travel Retail has opened a new last-minute duty free store at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru, expanding its commercial presence at the airport.

The 182m² Duty Free Express unit is positioned at the gate to serve time-pressed passengers in the final moments before boarding. Its product range spans perfumes and cosmetics, liquor, food and fashion, aimed at a broad range of traveler profiles and purchasing needs.

The opening follows the company’s June 2025 launch of 4,000m² of duty-free and duty-paid retail, alongside a 3,300m² dining area, within Lima’s new terminal.

Aéroport Nice Côte d’Azur has carried out a transformation of its retail offering across all three terminals over the last 18 months, unveiling 42 redesigned or new shops covering 6,300m².

The project, launched in September 2023, covers almost the entire retail and service mix across the scheduled and business aviation terminals, except for bars and restaurants in Terminals 1 and 2 and the business aviation terminal. The revamped offering spans premium, luxury and niche positioning, with a particular focus on perfumery, leather goods, fashion and local Mediterranean craftsmanship.

Lagardère Travel Retail has opened a Relay store on the upper level of Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2. It is the first of four set to open at the airport over the course of the year, which will in total cover 1,360m2 of retail space.

A ceremonial opening event was attended by senior Heathrow executives including chief customer officer Ross Baker and retail director Fraser Brown, alongside Frédéric Chevalier, CEO & chairman of Lagardère Travel Retail; Lucio Rossetto, regional COO Europe; and Peter Newbould, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail UK & Ireland.

Keflavík International Airport has introduced a new series of guided tours aimed at giving departing passengers a final experience of Icelandic culture before they leave the country.

The initiative, called The Bless Programme – named after the Icelandic word for “goodbye” – offers free 30–45-minute tours within the airport. The program is designed to provide short cultural experiences for travelers who may not have had time to fully explore Iceland during their visit.

Düsseldorf Airport has introduced a range of new food, beverage and retail concepts as part of a redevelopment project in partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail.

The new outlets officially opened on May 4, after Lagardère secured a master concession covering large parts of the airport’s retail and catering space. The rollout marks a milestone in the airport’s plan to expand its commercial offering.
