Lagardère Travel Retail UAE has opened the Story Kitchen & Bar at Dubai International Airport (DXB). It is the first outlet to launch in the new Concourse B West precinct in Terminal 3.

The concept has been developed in line with Dubai Airports’ vision for the upgraded area, offering a contemporary dining experience that combines design-led interiors with a globally inspired menu.

Stry Kitchen & Bar operates as a modern brasserie, with dishes drawing on Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Asian influences.

Duty Free Americas has announced the opening of its new LEGO specialty store at John F Kennedy International Airport Terminal 8.

The opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by leaders from DFA, LEGO and JFK. It follows successful LEGO stores opened at Dallas Fort Worth and Miami International Airports.

Aberdeen International Airport has appointed Portland Design to support a £2.5m (US$ 3.4m) retail transformation as part of wider plans to upgrade its commercial offering.

The program will see most retail and food and beverage units across the terminal refreshed or redeveloped over the next 16 months. The project forms part of AGS Airports’ long-term AGS Reimagined strategy, which focuses on modernizing facilities and improving passenger experience across its airports.

Portland Design was selected following a competitive tender process and has developed a set of retail design guidelines to support the investment.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, American Airlines, Asur Airports and Phoenix Infrastructure Group have completed the commercial redevelopment of Terminal 8 at John F. Kennedy International Airport, unveiling a US$125m program featuring more than 60 dining, retail and duty-free concepts.

The project marks the first completed terminal redevelopment within the Port Authority’s broader US$19bn transformation of JFK. It follows a US$400m expansion of Terminal 8 completed in 2022, which added new widebody gates, parking positions and upgraded baggage systems.

Waitrose has expanded into airport retail for the first time after entering a wholesale partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail, the operator of the Relay brand.

The partnership will see Waitrose products stocked in four Relay stores in Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2.

Three of the stores will be airside and one landside, with all four due to open by the end of the year. Each will offer a range of Waitrose food-to-go products tailored to passengers at Heathrow.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and JFKIAT have selected JFK T4 Retail Partners to redesign and operate duty-free and specialty retail concessions in Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The partnership brings together travel retail operator ARI, Queens-based International Shoppes, and a group of local small business partners. The new operator assumed duty-free operations at the terminal on April 1, with upgrades and new retail concepts to be introduced in phases through 2026 and beyond.

Travelex has introduced a new mobile store, bringing travel money closer to customers in high-traffic areas of airports.

The concept, named Nomad, is being piloted at Zurich Airport. Designed with convenience and accessibility in mind, it offers the same in-store capabilities as a larger traditional fixed retail location.

Sydney Airport has opened 11 new food and beverage outlets in its T3 Domestic terminal as part of a redevelopment of the precinct.

Offering a variety of local hospitality brands, the area has been updated to expand the dining options and improve the passenger experience. According to the airport, nearly two-thirds of travelers say airport dining influences their journeys.

The new line-up includes Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, offering a coastal Italian-inspired menu, alongside Lotus Dumpling Bar, which serves Cantonese-style dumplings and share plates.

The completion of the Rail Baltica Linda Terminal in the Ülemiste district of Tallinn will help transform the area next to the airport into a “second city center” by 2030 by creating a transportation hub that will help attract international business and investment.

Tallinn Airport, Rail Baltic Estonia and Mainor Ülemiste are jointly investing nearly €500m (US$500m) in projects aimed at redeveloping the former industrial district into what they describe as a “modern urban gateway attractive to international companies and investors.”

Sten Pärnits, chairman of the management board of Mainor Ülemiste, said the Rail Baltica Linda Terminal will integrate international and local rail, trams, buses and the airport into a single transportation hub.
