Incheon International Airport Corporation has launched an automated international remote baggage screening system (IRBS), enabling cross-border aviation security and passenger processing between South Korea and the USA.

Under the new IRBS model, the checked baggage of passengers departing from or connecting through Incheon International Airport (IIA) Terminal 2 is screened remotely by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) before landing in the USA. Once cleared, baggage is transferred directly to its destination, eliminating the traditional reclaim-and-recheck process at the first US arrival airport.

JetBlue has announced that it will open its first-ever airport lounge, BlueHouse, at New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) Terminal 5 (T5) on December 18, 2025.

Spanning 840m2 over two floors, the lounge has been designed to reflect New York’s art deco architecture with the warmth of a classic city apartment. Union Square Events will bring food inspired by local flavors, and NYC partners Joe Coffee, The Greats of Craft and Please Don’t Tell will offer beverages.

Plaza Premium Group (PPG), provider of 360° airport hospitality experiences and passenger service solutions, has opened an independent domestic lounge at Adelaide Airport – said to be the country’s first.

Located in domestic departures, Plaza Premium Domestic is open to all guests, regardless of airline or travel class, delivering a premium level of hospitality at an affordable price. The new lounge will complement the group’s international lounge at Adelaide.

PPG has built up a considerable presence in Australia, operating six lounges across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.

At PTE World in Madrid, Spain, Zoeftig is showcasing its largest seating configuration in the history of its presence at PTE World.

Vista has been built on the typical Zoeftig engineering structure that will last 25 to 45 years. The modularity of the product is intended to fit a number of different passenger profiles. At the booth, Zoeftig representatives are highlighting that the seating solution can run up to 15 miles long and snake through the concourse and around pillars and concessions.

Norway’s state-owned airports will receive a digital upgrade under the terms of a new long-term partnership between Amadeus and operator Avinor.

The two parties will co-create passenger services that can be delivered from anywhere, using any device, rather than fixed service points like check-in desks. This initiative sees check-in agents at Avinor’s airports roam the departure hall to serve passengers of multiple airlines using an app on a tablet or mobile. The agents will be able to capture passport or biometric data and print bag tags or boarding passes from any kiosk throughout the terminal.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston has begun installing modern seating – with bigger armrests and more cupholders and power outlets – inside Terminal D’s new International Central Processor.

There will also be modern upgrades like standing desks and family pod seating, and an extension with six wide-body gates that can also accommodate 10 narrow-body gates in Terminal D.

The steel framing for an oculus measuring 11.5 x 25.5m in the new International Central Processor is now in place.

Passenger terminal furniture company Arconas, in collaboration with London-based design studio Pearson Lloyd, has won the Red Dot: Product Design Award 2023 for the seating ecosystem Avro.

Avro offers terminal operators a single, flexible seating system that features an “elegant design, vivid colors, visionary engineering and integrated power, elevating any waiting area to feel like a VIP lounge experience”. Avro’s universal beam structure provides easy installation, removal or replacement of all seat types while being simple to maintain, clean and reconfigure.
