In March Studio ORD was announced as the winning designer for the new Global Terminal and Global Concourse at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

Studio ORD won an international design competition that Chicago launched in June 2018. The five finalist designs were unveiled in January 2019 and were subsequently displayed for public feedback at Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) and Chicago’s O’Hare’s existing Terminal 2.

The US$2.2bn, 2.2 million ft2 (204,390m2) Global Terminal and Global Concourse is expected to break ground in 2023. Here is an insight into the new facility.
